I am looking for a new source with a $400-500 budget, although the denon was not in my list I saw it being sold for $360 new. That is even cheaper than a philips 963 sa here in switzerland. My only concern is that dvdp technology advances really fast and I am not sure if it is still worth buying it. I don't really care (for now) about sacd and dvd audio hence I am not looking for a cd/dvd player with such capabilities, so purely on redbook quality; does this player beat cdp in the below $400 category?
BTW the denon has an msrp of $1200.

Have a look at the Panasonic RP-91. The price on that has fallen since it release and is now a very good deal. I think it looks and sounds much better than the Denon.
