Really have my heart set on these but want to use them on the go.

I've heard that the amp3 doesnt give off good bass for certain headphones that are low impedance but not sure if thats right.

Is there something better than the amp3 for the headphones ive chosen? a portable amp with iphone combo?

Main styles of music I like are drum and bass, dub step, breakbeat, hip hop, and metal. So bass is quite essential to me but at the same time not muddy just nice and thumpy.

Am quite baffled by all of the science behind getting good audio that many of you guys seem to know alot about, so would really appreciate the advice.

Thx

I don't have your phone, I don't know what is the sensivity of it, but 32OHM is suitable for AMP3. few users said AMP3 has a bass roll off shown in the frequency response graph. But they also said the roll off dosen's means that is bad bass. It only means the signature of bass of AMP3.

I have an AMP3, I also like the "modern music", which contents lots of drum and electronic synthesize music. I feel AMP3 is really perfect with representation of this kind of music. AMP3 can explain the exactly the punch, texture, details and reality bass.

The most benefit of listening the heavy bass music with AMP3 is that you will have no fatigue for long time listenning. I even can continually listening to it with AMP3 for whole day. Few rest DAPs has this advantage in my experience.

Nope, pro 900s are fairly hard to drive, I believe. The amp3 doesn't have that much drive power. It sounds great, but I think you'd need an amp if you were using the amp3.
Though, run a search on the sensitivity of the 900s, as I could be wrong.

In fact AMP3 is one of the most powerful DAP in the market, for it has an individual built in CLass A amp. That is to say, the sound signal of AMP3 has been amplified before boost the earphone. I think AMP3 has the similiar power as most portable amps.

Try to post this thread in the "Fullsize Headphones thread", you may get better results.

I have the pro 900 at home right now, but they are stuck in the "burn-in" process. I could tell you then some impressions with my Teclast T51, sice it is a similar player to the amp3, but I need some days

.

Anyway, If I were you, I would buy a portable amp. Reason is, that you are much more flexible. You can use the amp on other devices...

In fact AMP3 is also a decent portable AMP. it is portable AMP/DAP hybride. AMP3 is completely different from T51 which only applying more chips, T51 is only a DAP.

That is a nice Fact, that you can use the Amp3 as just an amp. I though in another direction. Amp3 and T51 have in common that they both are DAPs and have a "real" headphoneamp inside, while normal DAPs drive headphones just with the CODEC.

Thx guy for the replys, I think i've come up with a good combination but may be excessive and a waste of money. I think the sony x series 1050 + pico mini amp + ultrasone pro 900's should give me max potential. Do you rekon this would be a tad too much to get the best sq out the headphones

@RAFA please let me know what u think of the ultrasones, from what i've heard they're supposed to be banging
