Lately my apartment has been really dry and I've heard static pops through my headphones as a result. Here in my computer room (wooden floor) it's not too bad but when I'm sitting in my living room (carpeted), the static sometimes gets to the point where I can physically feel electric shocks.

Should I be worried? Because I really don't want to damage my beloved A900s.

Great question. I have been wondering the exact same thing as my monitor has been incredibly staticy lately. I am curious about this also and look forward to someones answer who knows a little more about this subject.

ESD (Electrostatic discharge) is essentially high voltage at extremely low current. Certain electronic components (microchips) that are contained in some headphones (like Bose QC2s) can be damaged; fortunately you are not using these! Your headphones contain simple transducers; I would worry more about improperly grounded audio components that could be damaged before any risk of headphone damage.

Do you feel electric shocks in your ear when you listen to your headphones?
