I A/B compared my 67SE to my Pioneer DVD player (DV-525) using NAD C320BEE amp and Monitor Audio S2 bookshelf. What I heared was that they are almost bit-to-bit identical!!! I was using Audioquest diamondback interconnect and Monster Navajo speaker cable.

What's the rational here? I don't understand. 67SE still worth $200 but nobody will buy my 525 for even 50 bucks!

Somebody give me an explaination please!

I understand what you are trying to say. I've been trying to figure this out myself.

It seems to be getting more and more difficult to find stand alone CD players anymore; except for the 5-Disc or Mega-disc Changers. The major manufacturers like Sony, Philips, Denon etc.... are not making stand alone CD players anymore. Most or all of them have been or are being discontinued.

It seems like everything is moving towards the "Universal" players.

And, Yes; the big question is: Are the universal players just as good or even better than the old stand alone CD players, even if you listen to 2-Channel Audio most of the time?

It would be good to get a discussion going about this topic.
