Is Koss Porta pro endgame? What are similar headphones or above?

Well from what I've seen expressed over and over is that both vjays and ksc75 are more sharper/less bassy than portapro.

I myself prefer meaty porta pro sound. At least in theory as I've not heard those other headphones.

Still love my porta pro with a rockboxed clip in even though I have more expensive gear like hd650. I recently bought the sporta pro and find the sq and comfort similar to the porta pro.

Your phones are comfortable for you (about the comfort of the product and the comfort of the sound)? If so, I think you should keep them. I used before an AKG K414P and it was great, but with some sounds I felt fatigue, because of the bass, but it depending on the sound quality (instruments and voices records, mixing and mastering). I sold these phones and purchased one pair from Shure, model SRH440 and it's awesome! It costs less than $100,00 and has a superb soundstage for the price. But you can think they are heavy and at the first time I didn't feel the quality of these pair, because I used so many times the AKG ones, but now I am thinking this model awesome! But, if you like your Porta Pro and won't use phones for professional purposes I think you should keep them.

I never understood why so many audio gear is for professional use.
headphones and speakers are marketed as monitors or reference.

What is the point? The market of sound producers must be less than 1% of all the consumers. So this must be something that works as a marketing strategy for normal consumers

Don't worry too much about why there is so much pro gear just rejoice in fact that professional headphones exist . They make a mockery of fashion brands and most of the FOTM headphones hyped on here. (My other favourite category of headphones along with the 'lightweights')

Examples Beyerdynamic DT150/ DT250, Sennheiser HD25, German Maestro GMP8.35' and (apparantly) Yamaha MT220

Compare a specialist and a good manufacturer. Who considers the job the person's doing as important will give your best (knowledge, precision mounting something) for good results. In my opinion, it's illogical a professional product sound bad with an unprofessional use, but the opposite occurs. Brands that are specialists will try their better to give for the people the best they can do, logically limited to the products price range (you won't make the best headphones pair for only $100,00, because you will be limited to make more expensive stuff comparing with the cheaper product, so the brands makes products by price ranges in my opinion). But, even price range products exists, the brands try to do their best for all sectors (low price, mid price, high cost products, even for sectores like audiophile, gaming, professional or casual use). It's my opinion.

So about 3 days after I installed the new headband on the KSC-75s, one channel gave out. I think I owned them for about 2.5 years and they got beat around quite a bit so I'm not too disappointed. It's not worth it to send them back to Koss for replacement. Maybe I'll save them and wait to send them in for when I have a few that are broken. In the time being I'll have to order a couple more pairs to have around and I'll just continue to listen to the KSC-35s with the headband.

I still much prefer the sound of the KSC-75 with el cheapo headband over the stock PortaPros.

Has anyone applied Kramer mod on Porta Pro which is apparently very popular mod on PortaPro? I applied it on my one as soon as I got it so I do not know original sound and cannot compare how it differ comparing with original sound. I should have listened without mod before applying the mod.  I read somewhere that it opens all High, Mid and Low more.....

i dos not change the sound sig.
but you can always put those portapro drivers in ksc75 to eliminate the boominesss of portapro.
i own grado sr60 and ksc75 in portapro headband along with hd414 yellow pads and to me ksc75 and grado sr60 sound identical.
you can always buy headband from partsexpress for less than $2 on sale.

Thank you. I tend not to change to Ksc 75 because it looks ugly and cheap. I love the design of Porta Pro. May I know why you replace to HD414 pad? Does it change the sound sig?

the yellow color looks fantastic on those.
but onestly it doesnt make a huge difference.
today i bought new KOSS ktx pro1 and onestly it sounds better than porta and ksc75.
the sound signature reminds me of the sennheiser hd518 but the construction is very bad.
you cant go wrong with any of these.
