I reiterate, is it possible for a cable to be evil?
Larry (of woody CD3000 and Headphile fame) once sold me the XRS cables and I swear it is evil. Very evil. I've been using it between my DSD system and my infamous phillyaudio amp for the last couple of months and I cannot take it out of my system. I was listening to Eric Clapton's Layla on CD and it was the gratingest version of any guitar based number I've ever heard. It had such a raw primal sound which is in such contrast to the usual silky smooth sound I heard both in my system before these cables as well as in the NYC meet. I've heard unrfined cables before, but this isn;t a lack of refinement, it's more like raw wild grace. I have a simpler solution. Larry is obviously the devil and he has infected me with these cables and now I can't change. It's so bad I don't even want to be saved. Lan and immtbiker both managed to escape the clutches of this cable, I wasn't so lucky. Well, at least I'm enjoying my fate.

Doesn't burn in sound satanic as well? I'm starting a new team now abandoning all previous teams: Team Grate-Ful Cable. Any volunteers?

What kind of burn in times do you guys experience with your ICs? I'm just burning in my Neutral Refs and wondering what kind of time frame to expect. Sorry to veer OT a wee bit.

I'd say anywhere between a 100 and 200 hours. There are those who believe that any cable is as good as it sounds before burn-in, but IMHO the quantum of change that occurs after burn in is so significant, that initial impressions can be misleading.

Thanks, that's about what I expected. I'm not sure exactly what's opening up on my system right now as it's all relatively new but it just keeps getting better and better...at times I just have to stop working and listen as some instrument suddenly catches my attention in a way I hadn't heard before...I'm lovin it, too..

I think norbert was referring to the EVIL cables not the nice Neutral Refs.

I'm using an XRS right now.... I just ordered a Nitrogen cable because i'm really curious what those sound like.. but I dunno if i'll be able to do a comparison, I don't want to pull the XRS off my amp.. lol

Maybe it's the special dielectric that Larry uses.. yknow.. PURE EVIL.
