Is it normal for new tubes to audibly distort?

Yes, but we need more info. What amp are you talking about? What tubes? Have you swapped tubes to check another tube?

Fx- audio tube-01, tube buffer with Riverstone audio ge tubes. The tubes are an upgrade that helped a lot but I'm still getting distortion. For hours on end the tube-01 sounds amazing then all of a sudden they sound awful. I believe I am using appropriate volume levels for the buffer.
