Just discovered one of the often overlooked functions on one of my favorite opera CDs, Oedipus Rex/Chicago Symph/DG, testing a modded (12 year old) Sony D-25S. I'm liking this feature very much, is it still used at all? I can only think of maybe 2 other CDs in my collection that might make use of this.

I've found that while some new CD players will display index numbers, they will not skip to them.

i remember my first cd player had indexing. you could even program by index. also, the 1980 glenn gould goldberg is one long track, broken into indexes for each variation.

i haven't seen it used much lately. too bad, it was an interesting feature.

Most of the more expensive cd players(ie: Not portables) still do indexing these days, or so I've found. The problem is, very little cds do indexing.

Yes, my Aura CD Player has indexing features... but, none of my CDs do...

Oh well, Guess I won't miss what i've never used...
