Hey.

I heard Grado's chief engineer, John Chapis, is dead.
Is it for real?

He is the guy who carpented the RS's mahogany housings, right?

Then who is going to carve the RS-1?

Would you tell me the truth, guys?
PLZ tell me he is not dead.

So the carpenter who carves RS-1's woody housing is not dead, right?
And the RS is still being manufactured.

Now thatz a relief.

It could very well be that the guy is dead because he was pretty old and John Grado cancelled hosting of the NY meet.

If it's done by another guy and we found out about it, I wouldn't be surprised if there were threads discussing the sonic differences between the new and old RS-1s, even if they were carved exactly the same

I always found Grados way too bright. Perhaps it's because the engineer was old and his high frequency hearing was poor. A change of the guard could lead to a more neutral sounding headphone line, which will get brighter as the guy ages.

Wasn't it debated that some of the really older RS1s were less bright than more recent ones?

I remember the last time this question was asked, someone said "Maybe he just got tired of making doorknobs day in day out."

I still chuckle when I think about that line hehe

If Famous Amos died, what you be concerned with? I'd be concerned with there being no more great cookies.

So, if Grado engineer died, then we will miss his contribution to the greater society.

You are having us on right? Surely you are not suggesting that you believe John C is the sole RS1 wood housing crafter? Nor are you hinting that this is a form of black art that only one employee of Grado is capable of performing, right?

P.S. Just another bemused troll

Thanks intlplby. It's nice to know someone here has a sense of humanity...
