Hey...

My parents are looking to get an HDTV. I'm looking at the Vizio VX37L, which only does 720p.

At a 37'' inch screen size, will the difference between 1080p and 720p be big?

Thanks...

as far as I know..

no one broadcasts in 1080p yet.

you can get it on a *very few* upsampling dvd players and ai believe HD DVD and Blu-Ray can do it also... if the disc allows it.

*IF* they're running a VERY good pc into it, or have a xbox 360 or ps3 it might be worth it also.

Personally, I'd not bother with 1080p on a set that small.. I very much doubt you'd be able to tell the difference between 1080i or 720p and 1080p.

you could ask if they can show you something in 1080I then 1080p at the store. (And I'd bet they can't in most stores)

Youll most likely need hdmi for 1080p too. Bear that in mind. get as many hdmi inputs as possible.

I was talking to a supposed expert in CC yesterday who told me 1080i isn't even possible over component (apprently it doesn't have the "lines" to do it!) - It IS possible, and not that uncommon with the right dvd player (it's just frowned upon by the studios). So you might not want to ask in a big box store for advice ...

Not unless you are sitting very close to the tv. Or if you need to runa PC on it.

37inches is pretty small for a 1080p display. I doubt you will see all the added resolution on such a small screen, but at least you will get every last detail from a 1080i signal..

Compsite/S-video supports 480i
Component supports 480p, 720p, 1080i
VGA supports 720p-1080p
DVI supports 720p-1080p
HDMI suports 720p-1080p
