Grab yourself a drink and relax. Here's what happened: I bought some batteries for my SlimX350 in January that were on backorder until March. The batteries arrived and were defective, after discharging and then charging then on their first run(giving them a full cycle is a good idea when you first get them) they began to leak NiMH paste all over the ends of the batteries.

So I send them in for a refund, which iRiver provides, and I tell them the originals were a pair of Sanyo HF-A1U Twicell batteries, and that I already found a new pair online by the time my refund came(the refund paid for the new cells and had some $ left over)-I figured I'd get original replacements if the branded ones don't work, which is what i did- the originals I had previously lasted for close to two years. So all of a sudden two days ago I get a brand new pair of the Sanyo Twicells, and no invoice or reason why.
So I email iRiver and ask them if they want their batteries back out of courtesy(and thank them for theirs), and this is the response I get:

"Hello,

I apologize for the mistake. Don't worry about sending this back.

Best Regards,

Subject: Replacement batteries

Hello,

I recieved a package containing two Sanyo Twicell
batteries, compatible with the SlimX 350 cd/mp3
player.
I wholeheartedly appreciate the hospitality and
courtesy on the part of iRiver and thanks again for
the replacement batteries.

However, I am wondering if I should ship them back to
the Milpitas, CA address listed on the package,
because I have already been refunded for the previous
set of batteries I had purchased- I don't feel it
would be right to simply keep the set I recieved
without paying for it, and would like to return them
for that reason. In addition, I already have a
replacement set currently in use.

If you would like me to return the package, please
reply as soon as you are able and I will send it out
promptly. If there is an alternate address necessary
for this kind of return shipping, I will send it there
if specified.

Thanks agan and best regards,
Abe"

...Any take on the matter?

I guess Iriver has great customer service, beats Apple.

Customer: "Hi, I sat on my Ipod and I broke the screen, can you guys fix this?"
Apple tech: "Sorry, we can't seem to find that on our database, may we suggest a diet?"

Especially if you have to send in your iPod to get the battery replaced. That's a dumb move on the part of Apple, for sure. You don't have to do that with iRiver, do you?

Sorry, but if I'm feelin' superbad, I'll have to get down with a shake, a wiggle, an "Ow!", and a generous helping of "good god!". And then life resumes after I breakdance for ten minutes

You did everything you could Abe - I recently ordered a new phone from Orange (Nokia 6630) and when i went to collect the package (they tried to deliver whilst i was at work) there were infact 2 packages.I signed for them and went on my way. When i got home i found they'd sent me 2 of the same phones

I rang, explained the situation and the customer services guy said, and i quote "As far as Orange are concerned Mr Tarrant we have only sent you one phone, therefore we will not be expecting the return of the other one." w00t for me - Free 6630 to sell on Ebay, currently going for £250 give or take a few quid! Just stick 'em in a drawer Abe,happy in the knowelege you have spares if the time comes that you need them

I will, and hopefully they will still be fresh in two years, because that's about how long it takes for my current pair to have trouble holding a long charge.
