Hi,

My newly acquired iRiver iHP120 is acting up, and I might have done something to the file system. The problem is that I only see the 'File tree' mode of navigation even when I select the 'DB Scan = Yes' option, where as the manual says I should get an ICON based Navigation system with 'DB Scan = Yes' option selected.

I think I might have deleted some system file when I was deleting old songs and loading my new songs onto the player. Can anyone verify the contents of the 'Root folder' of the player, please??

I have MoodLogic, but never used it.. I used the Windows Explorer to drag and drop.. I will try syncing the player using Moodlogic, and see what happens.. But I had the ICON based Navigation before deleting old songs to load up new ones (Windows Explorer style select-and-delete)..

Be back in a few mins.. *fingers crossed*

Oh, and in my iRiver Manager Software, the iFP Explorer window always reads (Disconnected), even as the player appears as a removable drive on the PC window.. What

Hmm, I dont know, you may have deleted something. There isn't really anything in the root though besides music, my root has all the music folders and a db file, thats it, nothing else.

Aurora,

Do you store your music files under Root or in the 'Music' folder?? Does that make any difference?

Glad to hear it works now, would be nice to know how you fixed it though!

I just opened up MoodLogic software, and it synchronized the player with the PC database.. and there it is.. the ICON based Navigation menu.. I donno how long this menu would persist.. *fingers crossed*

Maybe someone with a more in-depth knowledge of the workings of the iRiver navigation menus would enlighten us..

you have to use moodlogic to build the db file ...as soon as you do that it will show up...don't worry unless you delte that db file it will still be there

I use the H320 and it has an equally awkward db system.

After dragging and dropping the files onto the H320, I need to right click the folders and click on "add to database". If too many folder are selected . . . woops, be careful!! The software may crash!!

And if you change the tags, the database can get really mucked up too!!

Make sure you tag everything properly before moving the folders to the iRiver . . . or check out a TDT (Tag Database Tool) software - an alternative to the iRiver db at http://www.misticriver.net/.

Good luck!
