The more I read about this player, the more I want it.

Review: Iriver E100 : Akihabara News .com

The one thing keeping me from buying this player when it comes out is the mp3 seeking speed. I want to use this for audiobooks as well, but I would hate to have to try and find my place again at such a slowwwwww speed if going between chapters and my music.

Damn....

This thing looks nice! The first Iriver player I actually like.
I thought the clix2 looked very nice too!

But this just blows them al! Very well done Iriver!

But I've just bought an iPoo 6G so I don't think I could convince myself too get this one. Though the price is awsome!

I'm still tempted....

Well,

If I'd buy one it would only be to experience the Iriver sound. I know dat Iriver seems to have good SQ but that's what they said of Cowon too. I tried 2 Cowon players and didn't like them at all. Pretty decent machines but not the way I expected them to be.

So it would just be out of curiosity that I'd buy this Iriver. I don't think it would convince me, I already worship my MZ-RH1 for SQ.

It does have line-in.

Hmm maybe a switchable HO to LO like the older sony HD series, I didn't see a dock connector. I guess one way to check would be to buy one, anyone know warehouse 123 return policy

The headphone out is the lineout. But dont kid yourself the ipods lineout is basicly its headphone out set at a certain volume. Because I've read that the signal passes the exact same circuits on both the headphone out and lineout. This is also true for sony md players and I also believe pcdps unless they have an optical out. And they are highly regarded for their SQ. On my md player theres an option to change the headphone out to a true line out. But it basicly sets the volume on a certain level.

So dont be fooled if a portable player has a lineout dock or if another one doesnt.

"Excellent sound quality" from a reviewer who also states that "part of this success comes from the use of the SRS WOW HD technology" means nothing, as SRS WOW HD sucks with decent headphones.

From the review:

Audio:
As you can expect with an iRiver product, most audio codecs are supported. MP3, WMA, OGG, ASF, FLAC, all with excellent audio quality no matter which you use (headset or built in speakers). Part of this success comes from the use of the SRS WOW HD technology.

Yeah i can imagine excellent audio quality from "built in speakers"... What a BS.

I've just ordered one at 8GB for the missus. It cost me the equivalent of $152, which seems a reasonable price. Looking forward to listening to it. I was a big fan of the 40GB h140.
