searching the web for the right player, I found the creative muvo 2 and the iriver igp 100; these both players seem to have some kind of mini-harddisc; the iriver is described as using "ibm microdrive" - I never heard of that before; Í´m pretty sure you discussed these players allready
the hd size is 1,5 GB

they seem to be in size comparable to md-units, which is a very good size I think; 100g with batterie
- are there the disadvantages you have with hd-based playery e.g. when you jog on these units as well?
any experiences?

thanx in advance

There are debates here about using HD based players for exercise. One thing I will mentioned is I used the Microdrive's first generation (340mb) in my digital camera and it died after light use in 13 months. Not sure how they've been improved since, but that happened with far less bouncing, etc. than jogging would do.

The MuVo's moving from Flash to HD based? Sorry I can't read German.

yes there seems to be a muvo² and it seems to have that 1,5 GB mini hd; http://www.mp3-player.de/index.php?id=102

(don´t know if this link works, you can find a pic an www.mp3-player.de) the thing seems to be nice and it has that solid box format like md players have...

on the other hand: you might be right: it could be the best idea not to jog or do sports with a hd based player at all

I´m gonna search this board a bit

Ok, these are all Cornice SE-based players. This type of mini-HDD seems to be the better deal when compared to regular MicroDrive... which is too energy-consuming anyway.

They've accidentely placed the iGP-100 among the flashplayers-section, while it is supposed to be under in the HDD-section as well ("festplatte").

MuVo2 will have replaceable Li-Ion battery - like the Zen NX - allowing it to play 15 hours continiously. It weighs 91 grammes, is only 66 x 66 x 20 mm in size and costs about 300 Euro's. A remote control with FM-tuner is optional. A 4-band parametric equzlizer is also integrated.

Well, there's a lot of other blahblah there, but that was the important stuff.

BTW, these type of players aren't extra vulnerable or something, when comparing them to "normal" HDD_players. You can bounce with them for hours, most of them have large buffers (16 MB) so it shouldn't be too big a problem.

I jog with my iPod without problems, but others warn of issues.

Found the image. Interesting. Don't know the prices over there, but seems a dual Zen (or something like it for all around use) and MuVo (jogging) setup could be had for not much more. Again this is knowing little about the price structure of players in Europe (don't see the original Zen listed on that site).

Interesting that they're both MicroD, yet one is listed under "Flashspeicher". Maybe just an error.

There should be another one of these new 1,5 GB players out soon, btw - from Thomson this time, but it should also appear in the US under the RCA brand...

Greetings from Munich!
