I think we can all attest that living in Ireland has it's few disadvantages, aside from our beautiful landscapes, unique weather, clean air, great culture and language - it's bloody impossible to get any niche products.

There's an alarming lack of audiophilia in our fair green isle, and we must rise up together to combat this insufficiency. This is a thread for listing hi-fi shops, communities, meet-ups, and second hand hi-fi markets based in Ireland - brick and mortar, online, or nomadic, all input is appreciated.

I'll list everything we list below:

http://hifihut.ie
http://hearingmusic.ie
http://thelisteningsuite.ie
http://cloneyaudio.com

----Brick and Mortar----

Hi-Fi Hut (Dublin)
Tower Records (Dublin)

Go raibh míle maith agaibh!

I lived in Ireland for 6 years while I studied medicine in Dublin. I became interested in headphones after leaving ireland, I wish I had gotten interested a bit earlier!

I agree, it was a frustrating experience getting niche products for a reasonable price, and most of the time I resorted to shopping on amazon UK and getting it shipped to Dublin, cheaper than buying on amazon ireland and locally.

I miss living in Dublin to be honest!

To go back on topic, I noticed a few brick and mortar electronic stores that carry headphones in the Jervis Centre by O'connell street in Dublin. Not sure if that helps any. There was a sony booth at the bottom of Stephens Green shopping centre and they carried a lot of headphones as well. Argos wasn't bad either but back then my hard limit for headphones was 20 euros max :p

Ah Dublin's a lovely town to be sure, I'm doing the same at the moment - the issue being I'm not even in Dublin! I live in rural Galway about 40 mins drive from the city ;-; a nightmare for me, my two main hobbies being audiophilia and PC enthusiasm.

Hmm, that does help some because now I can go look them up! Thank you!

On a completely separate topic, could I ask you a huge favor? I noticed this guy earlier on today looking for advice from sombody who had studied medicine, could you respond if you have any advice to give? I think it'd mean a lot to him :)
>> Nvm I just checked and you already responded xD

Yup I PMed him no worries.

Ah jeez, you're SOL then with regards to both hobbies :p I spent some time in Galway, their hospitals are really nice! And the most remote I have been is Mullingar and Kilkenny. You are DEFINITELY SOL for headphones if you live there :p

Completely, it's kinda impossible right now - Mullingar and Kilkenny are both towns at least ;-; there's not a shop of any kind in sight out here.

Yes! I have family working in the university hospital, and I went to the Galway Clinic recently, both of them are gorgeous, going to the uni myself come September :) (that won't fix my bleeding heart at lack of headphones though)

Raise my hand here!
Glad to see this thread
I'm not Irish but have been living in Dublin for more than three years. Originally from Venezuela.

Definitely the audiophile community in Ireland is either a hidden organization or barely exist. Would love that to change.

Hello again!

Awesome, doesn't matter where you're from  you're one of us now!

Absolutely, if we can rouse more Irish we should organise a meet-up! We could even see about doing some promotion for hifihut and the like! Spread the love ^-^
