After finding my E500s to be quite dark when played with my good home amps, I decided to experiment with EQ on the iPod (mine's a mini 2nd gen). My ear is pretty good, and I found only the "acoustic" setting to be worthwhile. Boosts upper treble without too much lower treble. Also makes the bass tighter and well defined. I'm hooked!
