i am more or less clueless as to whether something like this is feasible or not, but hear me out.

first, accessories like the ipod hi-fi and other docks play music through the ipod's dock connector. is this the equivalent of digital output? and, if so, do you guys think i could somehow modify an ipod cable to connect to my total bithead amp and use the ipod as a digital source?

or am i an idiot?

it's impossible to use a stock iPod and feed it into a DAC; there's a $2000 mod that turns it into a digital source that requires a special dock, but i don't think you're looking to do that...
