Hi, I am buying ipod and I saw prev gen with 60 gb refurbished from apple and new gen with 30 gb brand new are only around 20 bucks different.

I am confuse which one to choose.

Does any one see the improvement with new gen. It suppose the latest one to be brighter, better resolution and longer battery life. Is this true?

no.
the battery life should be longer with the 60GB, the resolution (if we're talking about the screen and/or videos) is identical. the only differences are the search function and the brighter screen (and obviously the 60GB is thicker).

im half sure that the battery life of a gen5 and gen5.5 for say, a 30g model, only differs in video playback, not music playback.

but 60 and 80 gig models both have more battery life than the 30s.

and ya, its obviously thicker.

thanks for the reply. It helps. Basically the sound quality pre and new GEN are no different. Video is not really important for me.

Is the 60gb one a ipod photo (4th gen), or ipod video (5th gen)?

If its the ipod photo, the headphone out of the photo model is absolute pants in my opinion. The video headphone output is better than it.

If you are using line out, then I havent demo'd them, but id assume theyd be similar.

5th gen has gapless playback, and apparently 4th gen does not.
