Hey everybody,

I recently got a batch of ipod mini parts that I wanted to try out but I noticed something wierd. I put together an ipod mini with all working parts, board/hd/headphone jack/battery etc.. And it works great out of the case. I can sync etc.. Then when I put it back into the case and attach the click wheel it doesnt turn on. I did a few tests and found out that whenever I attached the clickwheel, the ipod would shut off! Kind of weird, so I did an internet search but never came across any good info. If any DIYer has ever encountered this or knows a way to fix a problem, please drop me a line.

are you grounding the clickwheel properly??

hmm I always assumed that the clickwheel was grounded through the ribbon cable, if not I'll double check the case. Thanks for the help

also, make sure the ribbon is aligned perfectly straight. if it's a little crooked, the ribbon shorts some pins which could cause that..
