I hope I'm posting this in the right place.... I'm wanting to make a line out for my ipod whenever I finish my Cmoy....I don't really know what to search for so I can't find any past threads on it. Is there a wiring diagram out there so I can just buy some cable, phono, and an ipod cable with the line-out plug on it and wire it myself?

Heh, I just did this last night... Someone here saw my SOHA pics & that I was using headphone out instead of lineout. A year ago I bought very cheap USB cradle/dock & car adapter off ebay... Opening up the USB cradle, I saw it had pins 2-4 available & I had a stereo mini socket so soldered it in.
Works great BUT as posted around, lineout levels are much higher & fixed & I'll have to mess with output resistors on my SOHA because w/Grado 80s I can only use 1st quarter turn of the vol pot.

Awesome...that pretty much answered all of my questions. Is there a certain connector that is better than another.... I may just use a replacement cable and disassemble it. Lastly, what gauge wire is best for wiring this (to get the best sound quality)?

To answer some of your questions:

From sound performance all connectors are the same since the share all the same materials for the contacts.
The difference is mainly in the shielding and the size.

Thick non shielded version
Thin partly shielded version, smaller footprint
Slim line fully shielded version, smallest footprint

The wire from sound wise is best thinner then thicker, thinner wire has less problems with skin effect which influence (according to some opinions) the sound negatively.

Please these are my opinions and should not necessarrily be shared by others.
