I've ordered a little dot micro+ for my Ipod 5g. Im looking at alo docks for it but I also have the ipod radio(fmtuner) remote. If at all possible it would be nice to still have the remote connected. That way I could have the ipod and amp in my bag while still skipping through tracks with the remote. I thought I could possibly cut the cable and then put on some sort of quick connect on both ends and solder a couple lines and then quick connect to the ALO.

Has anyone tried doing something like this, or found a solution that allows both the remote and line out dock to be connected at the same time? I know I could connect the amp to the headphone out but would prefer not to.

believe it or not, the radio remote to my ears sounds just as good as a third party line out dongle. therefore, just get a nice mini to mini, connect the radio remote to your portable amp, jack the ipod volume to max, turn the amp to a listenable level, and enjoy!

if you're looking for an ALO, whilst having the Radio remote, it wont work. it's one or the other. (unless as you mentioned used the headphone out) but trying to create a hybrid ALO w/ the remote sounds interesting; i wonder if it can be done..

is there such a thing as a dock splitter (much like a headphone splitter)??

the 4G iPod on the other hand, ALO + remote = no problem!

I remember reading somewhere that the dock port on the 5g had pins for both a standard line out and a variable (headphone) out. So I'm pretty sure the 2 would utilize different pins. If its easy to get in to the actual dock housing on an alo, and if I had the spare pins to insert in to the connector, I think this would be fairly easy.
