Ipod is dead, looking for a new DAP. need some advice.

ok, i had a 3rd gen 30gb ipod, it's about 2 years old. i rarely use it, i mean maybe 50-80 hours of usage, cuz of the battery life(i get 3-4.5 hours, brand new). and the first day, i mean no crap the first day i got to iraq, it died on me!!! well anyway. now i am back home, i turned that thing in to bestbuy, they said they might give me a new unit(60gb ipod photo). here is the thing, i refuse to use ipod ever again.

i have a sharp auvi series MD player for a long time, i love the sound of it. i wonder is there any dap has the sound like that?? i've been doing some research on the M3L. does the sq of the m3l sound anything like ipod(i didnt like the sound of ipod at all)?? hows the bass on the m3l, more than ipod?? is there anything out there anyone thinks is better than m3l?? here is my set up, supermacro(627, 4 switch, 2x buffer), er4p, um2.

here is what i am looking for:
1. battery life(most important thing to me)
2. sq( i like bass, but i am not a bass head, of course better than ipod)
3. i need a remote
4. i need a seperated port for line out(unlike the hd3)

What I can think of right now is iRiver H120 but it's discontinued. You could try to H320 with a seperate remote you can buy.
Oh, I forgot about the iAudio M3. Probably the best for you.

just for the record, i had a 2nd gen ipod and it gave me nothing but problems from the day i got it.

i replaced it with a 4th gen and have had basically no problems with it at all. it sounds better too.

In that case, can I have the dead iPod or the new iPod Photo? Seriously...

Switch it at best buy, get the photo and sell it. Then get whatever you want wherever you want.
