Hey all,

I am going to purchase an 80gb ipod and am looking for case suggestions on cases. I haven't decided on a hard or soft case yet, the 80gb is already pretty thick and a hard case might add too much additional thickness for my comfort. But, I haven't decided.

I really want to avoid any cases that will mark the ipod itself, for instance I have friends who have cases which cover the screen on the ipod, but the case has left brush/rub marks against the screen which is just as bad as scratches to me.

Any suggestions on good cases?

Thanks!
George

BSE with iSkin!

(Because if dust somehow gets inside the case, it'll scratch your iPod.)
The Claro might protect more than the eVo3 (because it has silicon with an outer hard shell), but the outer shell scratches easily.

ahhh so many to choose from, however the common trend is a BSE underneath the case. So, I've ordered a BSE already.

keep the suggestions coming, i'm going through them all, and thanks for the feedback

btw, is a BSE good enough to just protect from scratches? I'm not really sure I want to add the thickness of anything else, I'm very careful with my electronics such that I *probably* wont drop it.

Yeah, the BSE will protect from scratches. I like the Belkin one I linked to for the outside because it actually looks good, a quality lacking from all the other ones I've seen (in my opinion), except maybe that one that makes the screen look like it disappears when it turns off.

x2 for Agent 18.

Nice hard see through case which doesn't add too much bulk.

Access to the entire dock connector so you can use whatever dock cables, accessories you want.

Also comes in a kit (VideoShield Kit: ON SALE!) with a nice clip on stand, clip on belt clip and also a cool 'dock' accessory to use to use your iPod with any standard iPod universal dock system like the Hi-Fi or the Apple dock and not have to remove the iPod from the case.

My case hasnt been removed for over 7 months because of this...

Also been dropped a few times and the case has held up great and protected the iPod.

There are others here who don't like the case, but I'm fond of my Griffin Reflect.
http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/reflect/

The.. I wouldn't call it rubbery, but its slightly textured back makes it easy to hold, and keeps it from sliding too much, and the reflect feature is pretty neat.

Now, it does have its cons.. The screen cover does make it difficult to watch movies and such on it, as it slightly darkens the screen. The touch-wheel is also exposed, something many people have problems with. But I don't mind the touch wheel exposure, and it I ever really really REALLY want to watch a music video with full brightness (which hasn't occurred yet), I take the case off. Otherwise, it does its job protecting, and the slightly dimmer screen doesn't make a difference for the whole 2-5 seconds I'm selecting songs.
