So, does the ipod classic 6th gen avoid the problem(s) that the 4th/5th have which require them to be imod'd? In other words, is the circuitry of the 6th gen such that the quality is similar to that of an imod'd 4th/5th gen?

What problems do you believe exist "which require them to be imod'd"?

FWIW, I find the SQ of my 5.5 G to be very similar to my new 7G. Both are very acceptable to my ears.

I will guess that an imod'd 4/5G will be superior compared to a stock 6/7G.

I'm unaware of any, but I imagine that some must exist (otherwise why would anyone ever imod his or her ipod?).

And is there a 7th gen? I thought the newest was the 6th..

The new Classic only has 80gb and 120gb.

The new ones is only available at 120GB. 80GB, and 160GB is the old one. AFAIK the 120GB is the same as the older classic's. Both I believe are considered 6th gen.
