Hello all;

Forgive me if this has been covered, but a search revealed nothing.

I've embraced the dark side, and have augmented my MDs with Mp3s.

I have a question for you ipoders. I'd like to get a case for my30gig ipod, but have heard that a covering can cause the unit to overheat.

I was looking at the iskin, but feel it would be too much work to unpeel the ipod every time I wanted to charge or load it.

The matias body armour looks almost matthew-proof, but I'm concerned it would overheat when playing. (Charging could be done out of the case.)

Do any of you folks charge/load the ipod in a skin or case?

I don't use leather, so these two units are the options easily availalbe in the Great White North.

thanks in advance.

Matthew

I would guess my leather iGlove keeps my 5 gigger warmer than either the iSkin or Armour. I haven't had any overheat issues. I think you should be fine with either of your choices. http://www.ipoding.com and http://www.ipodlounge.com lists many of the 3000 case options.

On a side note.. you can always use uncompressed WAV or AIFF files with your iPod.. you'll still get more playing time than you did with the MD.. and higher quality sound files as well than the ATRAC3 compression.

I don't know if it's a better sound "source" though, I've never owned a MD player, so I can't compare just the sound output.

I have a Waterfield Super Dooper case for my 2nd gen 10gig (touchwheel with buttons around wheel). I have not taken my iPod out of the case since I got it and use and charge it every day. I also mount it in my car and charge it to and from work.

Never had any trouble with charging and heat dissipation with this case.

This case is great and holds my shure e2 phones in the front flap. I also wrap the headphone cord around one of the velcro flaps and this acts as cord management so no long dangly cords. The belt clip is very very secure too and the case is made of ballistic nylon. I noticed etys in your profile so this might suit you well.

Waterfield has updated these cases for the 3rd gen iPods too so I recommend that you check them out.

good luck!
