I just got my X3, loaded it up with just iTunes-downloaded music for the moment so I could test the card was formatted correctly, etc.  Will move onto some HDTracks-downloaded songs shortly.
 
However, I took the player out to the car, hooked up the analog cable from my car audio system (Porsche/Bose) and compared the playback sound quality from my iPhone 5 and the X3 and the iPhone blew the X3 away.  Remember this is iTunes/256bps music just for testing.
 
Am I doing something wrong?  Something I have to tweak?

Are you using the line out socket? X3 has a much higher level than the ipod so may be too much for your car audio system. Try the headphone socket instead if you are.
