iPhone 6 & 6 Plus Audio Quality

If anything common sense tells us that if there will be no 3.5mm jack on the next model, they will have another model released at the same time with a 3.5mm jack.

Everyone happy and spending money.

The initial read on the new model is that it will be more of 6 double plus than a 7 in terms of features.  We will have to wait another year for the OLED display, etc.

I think removing the headphone jack is a poor idea but this is Apple and they do things to sell add ons from time to time. Oh; I mean they want to avoid getting moisture in the unit and the fact that you need new equipment to play music is just a by product.  Excuse me.

Has anybody tried using Kaisertone on an iPhone along with an external storage device such as the RAVPower Filehub?  I'm wondering if it would be possible to play files directly from an SD card via the RAVPower wirelessly, using a wired DAC connected directly to the iPhone of course.

has someone compared the sound quality of the iPhone 6s versus the Fiio X3 ii (MP3 320 kbps)?
Thanks

Not FiiO exactly, but I compared Cowon PD next to iP6s with Kaisertone on different formats and i believe, that in blind test are those two hardly different. There is noticable different between iP6s and iBasso DX80, but that is expectable.

You have better ears than mine. I did blind test and can't hear any differences at all between iP6s and iBasso DX80. In fact, I sold my DX90 in favour of AK Jr, as DX90 sounds no difference to my iP6 as well.

Thus, I have AK Jr and Cowon PD along with iP6s with me now. Switching players depending on travel, office or home. As they sound the same, my purchase decision was mainly built quality and user experience. Cowon PD have good EQ settings that create a different sound based on likings, and it is noticeable difference. Thus, it is my most "go-to" DAP. So if I keep all EQ flat for all my DAP, I can't hear any difference. But for the improvement in sound based on EQ, Cowon PD is very different from my iP6s.

I am using JH16, ASG2.5 and Sony XBA-Z5, Bose H3 ANC (for flights) for info. I do hear some differences between earphones though, and to me, it is a better investment than getting any DAP. Probably a Sansa Clip (I used to own) is sufficient for IEM, as it also sounds the same as those "high-end" players (if you are not using demanding headphones).

I agree, I liked Junior over DX90 as well. In fact I never understood why DX90 is so popular. However sound of DX80 was not really bad. I got very same configuration - Cowon PD, AK Junior, iP6s. I sold both DAPs and now I have only phone. But next week I will get new DAP, which is not so famous, but it should be excellent in terms of sound.
And I fully agree with you, that good earphones are more important, than good DAP.
What player you are using on your iP6?

Using Onkyo HF Player and the standard music player with my iP6s. Sold my iP6.

I will probably sell my AK Jr too and just keep Cowon Plenue D, since I seldom use AK Jr now. iP6s for journey to work where good to have music stopping when phone rings, and Cowon Plenue D for most of the time, pairing with Sony Z5 most of the time. iP6s normally with Bose H3 ANC with mic for calls.

JH16 seldom used as seeing wear and tear after more than 3 years with it, and crystal piccolino cable connector starting to get loose contacts at the connectors. ASG2.5 with my wife since I prefer Sony Z5 sound now.

I really liked sound of Junior a lot, but UI and baterry compare to Cowon PD is poor. PD is nice little player and in my eyes, there is no other like PD.

Yep. Cowon PD is one of the DAP with good performance vs price ratio, superb built quality, can play any file format thrown at it, and drive IEM or Headphones easily. Solid battery life, sound the same as some of the DAP which costs many times more.

But if I can only keep my gears to the least minimum, it would be a good set of IEM, and iP6s.

Tested a music video on headphone out from the iPhone 6 Plus vs the DAC function on the x3 fed by the iPhone.

I am not normally a night vs day person but the x3 won with one arm tied behind its back. The low end punch of the stones live circa 71 was so much more satisfying through the x3 ii it was not a fair fight

I also have the Bose H3 ANC with the mic and recently upgraded from the 6 to the iPh6S. I couldn't help but roll my eyes when I heard Apple is removing the headphone jack for the new iPhone 7. I realized there isn't any use buying straight from Apple when I love the sound on the 6S so much. It took me a long time to find out where to buy a used model that I felt like I could trust the quality. I would have hated to buy a refurbed model with some third-party speaker set up. Anyway I ended up finding a place that sells original, not-repaired, and tested phones and now I have some extra pocket change to put towards something else

As history unfolded the iPhone 6 was the last iPhone with an stellar and flawless headphone port. Now a whole new era is coming at us and there is no way to know for certain if iPhone 7 could power our expensive 3.5mm headphones as good as the iP6 could. I might well keep mine as an hpo icon.

Note: 6s was very good but the emi noise could be nasty at times so it always was a no go for me cause it introduced a regression in a key area.
