I like that Apple finally smelled the roses and entered the smaller tablet market, but I'm still holding out for a Microsoft Surface with Win 8 Pro. That thing will be a tub of awesome sauce..

I'm super happy with the Ipad2. It is a great comic book reader, a great music player, movies look fantastic, books are easy to read and it surfs well.

It's not really very portable and I would be super frightened to see it drop to the ground from hand level. That's the thing, this mini may drop better than and IpadI2?

Heck, Iv'e dropped my Ipod Touch so many times, I'm so lucky? The right case can make a world of difference, but I'm not sure about the Ipad2 being dropped in the standard case?

I guess you haven't realized that Apple has moved on to the better performing cirrus logic chip???
As for sales, I do think this will sell like wildfire!!! Especially considering the lower price point.

Dont worry about that particular poster - he freely admits to living in the past, and I guess that's his choice.

My guess is that the silicon will be identical to that used in the latest gen of the iPhone/iTouch - see the last entry in the table below.

Wolfson Microelectronics WM8758BG[29] Wolfson Microelectronics WM6180C[30] Cirrus Logic CS42L61 (CLI1495B0; 338S0589)[31][32] Cirrus Logic CLI1560B0 (338S0987)[33][34] Cirrus Logic CLI1583B0/CS35L19 (338S1077)[35]

My 4Gen Touch has the CS4L61 from the iPhone 3GS/iPhone 4, but personally I think we obsess far too much over a sliver of silicon that Apple would have paid a few bucks for in the kind of volumes they order. Implementation is everything.

That's a great option but cost more. Win RT is costing starting $499, and the pro? $$$$$

the type cover is also beautiful, but totally beyond my budget

Great tablet, but the price may scare people away

Just an FYI. The Surface RT is amazing. Typing on it right now (no Touch Cover for me yet). Can't say enough how much I love it. Amazing engineering and design.

Is it a bit slow, like some reviews claim? I mean in comparison to the iPad?
