OK, I have a Benchmark DAC1 and I'd like to use my iPad 2 as source. Currently, I use iPad > CCK > DAC1 and it works perfectly. Question is: if I add the original Apple iPad dock in the chain (like iPad > Dock > CCK > DAC1), will it still work? Has anyone tried this combination with the DAC1 or any other USB-enabled DAC?

Mine works. Or used to, until I installed iOS 6.1.3. Now the CCK doesn't work, even without the dock.

Thanks. I've just tried myself (got my dock in the mail today) and it works. However, my iOS is older than 6.1.3.

Try living with the battery drain on 6.1.1/2 for now. I was seduced by the advertised battery management improvements on 6.1.3 and upgraded; however there's at least one 6.1.3 iPad3 that still has USB Audio.
