Hi all,
I'm looking for advice from some of the experienced members (I have little).
Let me explain my situation : I listen mostly to orchestral music (film/classical). At home I have a pair of B&W diamond speakers, which I love. For the road, I have a Chord Mojo and the Beyerdynamic DT880; they're fine.
My question is, do you think I should invest in a pair of good IEMs, like the Grado GR10e, for example? In other words, what improvement (if any) should I expect compared to the Beyers? Certainly, the IEMs will be lighter to use and easier to carry around. Do the GR10s match the Mojo well?

Thanks.

Well if just for ease, I would definitely consider getting IEM, especially since IEM have been getting much better over the past couple of years. However, don't go expecting IEM at the same price point of a headphone would sound better until you get to the relatively high end stuff, where they start to hold their ground with their full sized counterparts.

Thank you, Dulalala,

I see. So, the GR10s cost almost three times more than the DT880s. Does that mean they have comparable quality?

I currently have the Sony MH1c. Some people say that they punch way above their (OEM) price range. Do you agree? I find them quite bassy, driven by the Mojo.

Thanks.

I have not tried the GR10s nor the MH1c so I cannot comment on them.

You don't hear a lot about Grado iem's and have not heard them myself so take that for what it's worth they might be great just don't know. The Mojo to me is great as a dac as I've heard several full sized headphones from it and was not too impressed by the amp section but the dac is top notch for the money. Earphones might be a different story. For the money the 1More Quad Drivers might be a choice to consider. Great with detail as would work nicely with orchestral music I'm sure. I have the Triple Drivers and they are also good at that and the Quads just step it up a bit. Just something to consider as I have not heard the Grado iem's.
