Introducing the Warwick Acoustics APERIO - GoldenSound Signature Edition!

For some time, Warwick Acoustics and GoldenSound have been working to create a variant of the ultimate listening system; Bringing together Warwick Acoustics wealth of knowledge and engineering experience combined with GoldenSound's acoustic knowledge, the Warwick Acoustics APERIO - GoldenSound Edition represents a new interpretation of the pinnacle in audiophile nirvana.

This edition, exclusive to Headphones.com, redefines what is possible in high-end audio. It has developed for those who seek the absolute best in sound quality, combining cutting-edge technology with bespoke tuning for a uniquely immersive sound.

2nd generation BD-HPEL Electrostatic Drivers

Utilizing Warwick Acoustics' latest 2nd generation BD-HPEL electrostatic transducers, the APERIO GSE is one of the most advanced headphone systems in the world. These advanced drivers operate with an unprecedented bias voltage of 1800V, over three times higher than traditional electrostatic headphones. This results in a dramatic improvement in detail retrieval, control, and transparency, delivering a listening experience that is as close as possible to the original recording. With the Aperio GSE, every subtle nuance in your music is brought to life with unparalleled clarity and realism.

A Bespoke Tuning Experience

The GoldenSound Signature Edition offers a uniquely tailored listening experience. Warwick Acoustics and GoldenSound collaborated to refine every aspect of the system’s tuning, from bass extension to treble refinement, ensuring that no detail was left untouched. The result is a system that combines clinical precision with musicality, offering lifelike timbre, expansive soundstage, and controlled, authoritative bass. This is a headphone system designed for the discerning audiophile who demands nothing less than perfection.

Digital and Analog Innovation

The APERIO GoldenSound Edition features a complete overhaul of both its digital and analog signal paths, providing the flexibility to experience exceptional sound quality with any source. Whether you’re using the system’s integrated DAC or connecting to an external DAC or vinyl setup, the analog signal path remains pure and untouched by digital processing. This analog-first approach ensures that the sound is always natural and uncolored, delivering an authentic listening experience that stays true to the original recording.

Precision Meets Musicality

The APERIO GoldenSound Signature Edition was tuned by ear, but with scientific and objective understanding and guidance as a driving force. Achieving a response closely matching the Diffuse Field HRTF of the human ear, precise, tasteful alterations to a direct HRTF response were made to enhance the listening experience, providing a more expansive soundstage, richer timbre, and improved bass response. This tuning strikes the perfect balance between objective technical performance and subjective listening pleasure, making the APERIO GSE another take on mastery of audio engineering

The FR looks good, but without a home demo unit, I'll probably never experience it myself.

This is a price League too high to commit to under Show impressions. (Maybe I'm just too poor 🤔)

For those that wanted to hear the Aperio GSE with their own music we have now got Tidal/Qobuz streaming up and running!

Can you trade in original Aperio for some type of credit?
Has the thick/stiff cable been improved?
An external DAC previously was put through Aperio DSP. Is the DSP now completely bypassed when using analog inputs?

Original aperio owners can send in their unit for an upgrade for a cost of $3500

The current cable is softer than the original, though still somewhat thick, just has to be due to 1800V needing more insulation.

Analog in on the Aperio has never gone through DSP, that's just on the bravura. It's always been analog on the Aperio, the GSE has a new analog board for the new tuning as well. No digital conversion/processing involved :)

What about the much more affordable Bravura DMS Edition? Some of us aren't millionaires.

Or the Zeos edition where they add 20 DB of mid bass.

If I were to compare this, it sounds pretty close to HE-1on high crossfeed settings with GSE having a slight increase in midbass and a little less treble presence for a slightly more laid back presentation than the HE-1
