Shanling M6 PRO - New version coming Summer 2021

Open Android means there is no Google Play store.

EDIT: Nevermind. They seem to not be using OPEN ANDROID with the same labeling of other dap makers. It has Google Play Store.

Uh, the M6 supports Google Play Store right now with minimal effort.

You're still receiving a DAP that you want, no shame in that. There's no need to own the latest product; if you were gonna be happy with the M6 you bought before you knew this was coming out, you're still going to be happy with it now. Besides, this product is gonna cost more, and we all know the law of diminishing returns when it comes to audio.
If it really bothers you, I'm sure you can return the M6 you bought and buy this one instead. Don't be too hard on yourself man.

Agreed, I still think the M6 is pretty good. Can't return it as I ordered mine from china, so the logistics alone would be a nightmare. I'm going to use it, and I know it'll be good. I just think if I knew they'd upgrade it so soon, I might've waited for the newer version and paid extra to get the upgrades. A better more customer friendly marketing method would be to announce both models simultaneously and then let customers choose which one they want. (for eg. iPhone with its regular and 'pro' models).

+1
It happened to a lot of FiiO owners. M11 Pro and M15 were released in a short period of time.
There's always an upgraded product coming out.
@audioIQ Don't bash yourself, it's not your fault.

Yeah, Honestly, good on them for trying to improve their product. the pro version is definitely better on paper than the regular one. But as a customer, I would prefer if there is just one proper model, for the entire cycle (or if there is a 'pro', both are announced simultaneously).
Fiio did the same with M11. they released the M11 Pro model just a few months after the M11 release. this gave the impression that the M11 was sort of "half-baked" and the Pro was the version that should've been released in the first place. This sales model makes the customers feel like beta testers.

The thing about the M6 Pro getting dropped right around the time you buy an M6.... I get it. That just happened to me. But we have no idea how much the M6 Pro costs. And we don't know if the sound improvements will make a difference when paired with our current gear. So, I'm trying to stay positive and think that I might not even be able to afford one when it comes out. Now if the reviews are like "The Pro is even BETTER with the Aeolus!" then I might get cranky. Haha.

Actually same thing happened to me with FiiO M11pro stainless steel (SS). I ordered the aluminum black the day before the SS was announced.

I do agree it would nice if companies could give more heads up and let customers know when similar versions of a product are in development or will be coming out.

If there's unboxing available, I'm guessing release must be pretty imminent?
Just watched the unboxing. That thing is pretty. I want one now. I use a chord mojo, and ifi xdsd and a Monolith portable DAC/Amp with THX with my iPhone 7 turned DAP, but I want an Android DAP with LDAC for my BTR5. And storage greater than 256gb. Point is, I can still use it with my other DACs. Waiting on impressions.

Both Google Play Services and Google Play Store are available on M6 Pro.
So we have a tentative release date for the international version for purchase in the United States? I've passed on ibasso, Fiio, Hiby, but you have my attention with this one. And it is nice looking. Also, does the m6 pro output bit-perfect to external DAC? I know it bypasses Android resampling to it's internal software

With current situation, guessing exact release in countries around the World is tricky. We should have them ready for our international distributors around end of April, when it gets to shops is different question.

Custom software avoiding Android resampling is also active for USB output. So 44-352, all going out unchanged. Only DSD is missing for now, that is output as Hi-Res PCM.
