Introducing NOIRE X

Im not sure what you mean? It was already half the value when trying to sell used. If that’s what your goal is. If you aren’t trying to sell what does the perceived value matter?
so why does the e3 cost 2k usd and this one is half the price?? I feel like i wasted my money if what this is basically a repackaged e3. Same sound and build quality

I think there might be some misconceptions here. I’ve owned both the E3 and the X, and they’re not the same. Preferences vary—some will prefer the E3, while others might lean toward the X. Personally, I like the X for its fit and sound, but the E3 still holds its value and place in the market at its price point.

This price difference is part of how technology evolves—trickle-down advancements often make newer products more affordable. For example, think of how Elon Musk has driven down spaceflight costs through innovation.

If you’re curious, try the X. If you find it offers better value for you, you could sell your E3—it’s a healthy market. That way, you can maximize your experience without feeling like you’ve lost out.

I hope this perspective is helpful!

OK, I fell for these as first opinions and specs and price are all positive. My first blind "impulse" purchase without listening first. I used BF code at Project Akustik, now I'll wait for delivery confirmation, as Noire X were not in stock at the moment of purchase. I also ordered discounted Wiim Amp Pro, so if they really deliver, I'm happy with BF discounts.

I must be mad…for someone who doesn’t listen to closedback headphones all that much, I still found myself ordering the Noire X with a discount from the aforementioned German vendor, Projekt Akustik.
There are however some fairly decent reasons for me doing so; one is the fact that I really enjoy the latest Dan Clark offerings. Two because while I dig how they sound, I’m not that fond of the big variations in presentation all according to how I wear them, and with the smaller sized cups this should effectively be a non-issue. Final thing that pushed me over the edge was this frequency response Dan posted of the Noire X which looks really enticing to me:

Things I am slightly less wild about include having to wear gloves if I don’t want fingerprints on my gorilla glass and of course that this isn’t an open headphone. Oh well…maybe this will be the next closedback that I genuinely want to put on my head vs doing so out of necessity. The other one fulfilling that criteria is the woefully overlooked HD620S that continuously slip under the radar around these parts. Personally I think it’s because of it’s look and total lack of bling. People generally want something new, so when Sennheiser launched a new closedback in what effectively is an updated HD560S shell…folks could care less. Their loss I guess, but I digress.
Anyway, and I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I am genuinely looking forward to receiving my new gorilla glass closedback headphone.
Your’s truly, monsieur openback 4ever.

They will deliver as soon as it is in stock. Project Akustik is a reputable company near Hamburg. The company has been around for a very long time. I also ordered the Noire X.

Is anyone comparing the Aeon2 Noire to the Aeon2 Noire X? Would be interested in this.

Have had a pair of Aeon2 Noire’s since December ‘22, driving them from a Bakoon HPA-21, which replaced an earlier Burson Soloist v1.
Been very happy with sound, fit and quality of these Dan Clark Audio headphones. Listening tends to be late evenings, for a few albums at a time.

The only negative was that I had bought a 10ft/3.1m Vivo to replace the standard 1.2m Dummer cable (paying the International shipping to Ireland & the import duty plus VAT on US goods, so making the cable in the $500 range) but it just wasn’t long enough and was hanging between amp and listening position, not touching the floor so dragging on the worn headphones. A previous 3m cable for a pair of B&W P5 had proven to fine in this configuration, with part of its length, pooling on the floor. The VIVO cable is quite a thick & heavish cable, which added to the strain. But I found that Dan Clark Audio don’t take returns on cables, even though this one had only been used for about an hour. The “15 day return policy” advertised on their website is for headphones only. So it is sitting unused in the case.

Rather than take on a further expensive cable & all shipping cost, taxes etc from US, I ordered a custom build silver ‘dual mono’ cable with Cardas jack from SkyAudio in the UK, and at 5m is more than long enough to snake over the floor without applying additional strain.

My conclusion on the NOIRE X

For me, it is ahead of the Stealth and E3 in terms of balanced tonal performance
Therefore an unreserved recommendation on my part👍👍
❗️Headphone of the Year 2024❗

NOMAX

Ps.yes I also put my word for other manufacturers when I am personally highly satisfied 😎

Nomax, do you think that I should seriously go for the Noire X, being closed back, instead of considering getting the Focal Hadenys or Stellia? I saw you really approved the Hadenys. I already have the Azurys and have been thinking of Stellia, and I remember being very impressed with the Hadenys in just a short 15min listen.
