Has it been confirmed? I was hoping for SD.1 micro sd slot
Fingers crossed for a 256GB internal storage...
To be fair, normal SD is nearly dead, now that you can get 400Gb microsd cards.Has it been confirmed? I was hoping for SD.

It's not a quality statement, just normal evolution, now that chips can be engraved smaller and smaller.
Compact-flash is even older than SD format, although it evolved other time... It is really limited to professional cameras where very high transfer rates are a requirement, which is a tiny fraction of the market. On the contrary, photography still thrives on SD cards. Until compact-flash or a different medium becomes the universal standard on all cameras, SD cards are here to stay (at least for the foreseeable future).

MicroSD cards also consumes less power, and if you want to know what drives the market in terms of sheer numbers, these are microSD cards for smartphones.
Smartphones make the cameras market shrink more every year, which in turn applies to accessories like memory cards. Again it's not a quality statement regarding pictures quality, just simple technological evolution.
For mass markets, microsd is the current gold standard. For music playing, there is no advantage using bigger format cards, since very high transfer rates are not a requirement.
99,9% of current DAPs already use microSD cards, so it is already a lost cause that is not really worth defending.
While it is true that the smartphones continue to reduce the camera market, the camera market is not declining at a rate at which it would be decimated any time in the near future. Also, as a consequence of consumerism and a phenomena called divergence (people going back to mainstream gear like cameras and daps despite owning a smartphone), camera market is actually reviving and stabilising after a bearish period. There are other aspects/technologies shifting within the camera market, like people ditching dslr for mirrorless, but the dependency on SD cards hasn't seen anything close to a wild shift. As long as the camera manufacturers continue to ride on the SD card train, SD cards are going to be around for a while.
