With Power On, click on Settings button (upper right button) -> One click down (takes you to System setting) -> 6 clicks down (takes you to Brightness setting) -> in there you can cycle through Low/Mid/High to see which one you can see better.

Twister6 thanks again and musicday I watched the video. I implemented your instructions which had to be in complete darkness and total reliance on your instructions. Still only lost 2 days of holiday without the special one. This forum just goes to show how invaluable it is. Now for the RANT: because I am very angry....... What a stupid setting of LOW BRIGHTNESS ON LOTOO PAW GOLD'S BEHALF which is totally useless unless you have Xray eyes WHY IS IT THERE? Don't they test this function for widespread use. Even the highest setting is of poor quality and the wording looks like it's fading in and out all the time. Anyway still do love the machine for what it does musically.

Hey Spitfire,glad we could help.I don't know what is happening to you but when i had the LPG the brightness was on the lowest setting and that was bright enough.
Now for the future reference please do not drink and operate the DAP at the same time

in Chinese what the email address is.  Google/Bing translate don't help.
 
Edit--Sorry, I see I don't know how to post properly on this forum.   I was trying to respond to someone
several weeks ago who said they emailed Lotoo directly and got a firmware update from them in English.
If anyone knows their email address would appreciate it.
 
I've had my Paw Gold about a year and it sounds great but intermittently freezes/ won't power up or down,
etc.  Was hoping a firmware update might help rather than the hw being possibly bad.  I have 5.0.1.8 (I think,
don't have the player with me right now).

I managed to score myself a used LPG and I'm loving the resolving nature of the LPG so, so much.
But the thing that really impressed me when I auditioned it from the seller was how freaking small it was. This thing looks ginormous in pictures and yet, in person, such a diminutive device. It totally reminds me of the Bugatti Veryon. HUGE in pictures but tiny in real life.
 
And yet.......the sound........for such a compact player to be able to provide such musicality, resolution, neutral but not boring sound sig is just amazing. The speed, the battery life. The LPG to me is hands down THE player to beat with a UI (so far from what I've auditioned).

Has anyone had a chance to try the lotoo paw gold Diana edition? From what I can tell from amazon the improvement comes from implementing high power dual mono amplifiers, and comes with a 256 card with music samples from hd tracks and blue coast music. Any impressions would be welcome
