Hey everyone,
I have recently noticed that my xin supermini IV picks up a high pitch noise when it sits on top of the screen of my 160 GB ipod classic. Only over the screen though. If the supermini is over the clickwheel, or anywhere on the back side, it is silent.

Anyone experience this, or know what it is? It doesn't seem related to the screen being on, or the hard drive spinning up. But its a really annoying high pitched whine.

Thanks for any help!
Whitney

At least some iPod models do emit RF interference. I often use Nanos on my exercise machines and if I place one in certain positions on the consoles of my treadmill or exercise bike the heart rate monitors go bonkers.

the supermini also is renowned for picking up lucky signals as it is not shielded in any way. i have the micro and find it sometimes picking up stuff i'd rather it not. that said, it seems as if classics latest firmware if you are using it has a voltage leak in it that may be the root of your troubles. I hope it gets fixed soon for your sake. cheers

hmmm. Yeah, I did update the software for the ipod. You'd think that updating is a good thing, but with apple, its not always the case!

It's not that big a deal, cause I can just leave the supermini on the under side of the ipod, and its fine. I was just curious if other people have this problem.

In your position, I would open your headphone amp and wrap some anti-static wrap around the internals.
