I have a 963sa, gilmore v2, and some dt880s. Will ICs give me a huge difference? I'm not asking the differences between an acoustic zen WOW and silver reference, I just want to know if there is a big difference between stock and aftermarket. If you make a recommendation, I don't want to spend more than $100.

It seems as if you have quite a bright setup there. Anyway, when I was looking into getting an interconnect I was in youtr same position. I rounded down my choices to the Signalcable analog two (try to get the bullet plugs) and the outlaw PCA. Honestly, I settled on the outlaws because they're cheaper but I would love to audition the Analog twos...

I don't wanna sound evil but these forums are really turning narrow. I mean, like with sources ther are only few cables always discussed/recommended here like the flavour of the month. Outlaw being a typical example. C'mon people there are tons of cables out there let's widen our perspectives a bit.
Here I go. If you want normally (for normal people

) priced cables that will make a good deal of improvement to the sound look at

Harmonic Technology Precision link
Van den Hull D102 MkIII
QED Qunnex II or silver spiral
Supra EEF I
IXOS Gamma Audition

and perhaps many others. The above are some of the cbles that I own, owned( or auditioned) and liked. All of the above cables will make big difference from a thin generic cord. Try to get some cables from a place with good return policy and try them yourself.

I A/B'ed outlaws compared to a completely generic set of cables, costed 2 dollars at a local shop. The difference? none.

The outlaws were a tinge bit warmer, other than that, they sounded identical.

Nites to outlaws? Again, i heard no difference. This was not nearly as through as the outlaws - generic comparasion i did on my own though

Outlaws to neutral referances?

The difference was huge. Cables make a difference, but the trick is finding good ones

Yes, like the ones that I linked too, and The neutral referances are great as well just a heck of a lot more.

Interconnects make a huge difference. I auditioned some pure silver cables that cost 600 a piece wow the sound was incredible. But i had to buy the ones that cost me about 70 still awesome sound though. After i got home and compared these to my ratshack ones the difference is night and day.

I heard a considerable differnece when I replaced cheap interconnects and speaker cable with quality. Sound from the speakers and all the components is much improved. I went with Signal Cable Analog 2 IC's and Signal's speaker cables also.

IMO , you should not rely on it to make a huge difference -

your system shoud be the one that you like and rely on the interconnects just to be as transparent as they are to let the sound flow as you like it .

just my .02 cents.

That's why I never really make recommendations unless it's very specific and I have cables that I have had experience with. I don't feel like pushing equipment that I own or use.

ClayerVoyant. If you're talking about those stock red and white cables then ya you're going to hear a big difference. I depends on what you want to do. If you want something to keep then I would push my budget and buy the best cable I can get. Otherwise you can get something in the midrange of your budget $65 is a good number I think +/- $10.

Otherwise you can pick up a pair of Acoustic Research cables or something for $20? I'm from Canada so I'm not too familiar with pricing.

In any case you really should get rid of those stock cables. Paying $20 for better connectors on something like the AR cables alone should give you a sufficient improvement. Then when you're ready to upgrade your cables move them to your VCR or something.

i think i did not express my self clearly - i mean you can get a decent cable in the less than $100 range and dont have to go to the extreme $300-or more range .

i would not even use a stock red and white cable .
i personally use a bear labs silver lightning interconnect , some cheap canare stuff and some cheap audioquest .

My bad Screwdriver I was quickly scrolling up and read your "quote" instead of what you wrote. It was intended for the original poster ClayerVoyant.

But Screwdriver, $300 or so is actually considered entry-level/low mid pricing
