I'm listening to the Stax system on my denon 370 with silverstreak interconnects that I received from Tom Hankins. And the soft bottom end is not as soft as it was with the stock rca interconnects. The detail has about a 50 percent increase (no joke!) compared to the stock rca interconnects I was using. The bass line is more promonent, the whole mid range has opened up considerably. The highs are less bright and more smooth.

Everything has just gotten bigger.

But, the source is still the weak link. Even though the bottom end has improved slightly with a better source that improvement would be more apparent. Or at least it should be.

So, who knows, maybe the Stax is a keeper. But if I get a good offer on them, I will not think twice about selling them.

I think pigmode meant to say that we all know that cables make a difference otherwise this forum would be named voodoo or snakeoil rather than be associated with tweaks. I'm happy that you're enjoying your system more though. Stock cables are usually evil.

Matthew, Glad you like the cables.

Your insanity with cables has just begun. muhuhaha. good luck to you.

It's hard to quantize sound improvement. 50% is rather extensive.

Ok. Maybe I went a little bit overboard. But then again, I don't think I am. It really does seem to change the sound.

All you have to do is put you old cables back in to verify your impressions.

Hmmm, who was it that said that the Stax would improve greatly with IC changes. Someone who said that they would go thru the same change as the Senn 600s would with a Cardas or Equinox cable change.

Do you want me to remove them from the Audiogon listing now, or later? With your new source these things will totally ROCK. Instead of buying the Sugden, keep these and sell off the Sugden if you already bought it.

You'll thank me later if you keep them along with the new source and ICs

Hey he's comparing stock cheap yellow, white, and red type RCA cables to at the very least decently made cables. 50% is at all far from reality. (Thinking of PS Audio's advertisement) those stock cables are the equivalent of putting ultra skinny spare tires on your $100K Porsche.

YES. Please remove them. I will see how the sudgen sounds with the shanling. If the 2020s beat the sudgen hd600 combo I will sell the sudgen.

I will mark them as sold or just leave them for now. You might change your mind again.

Since there has been no interest in them yet, that would be a good idea. Although with the new ICs and source you will be selling the Sugden first.
