For the last week the earliest time that I could fall asleep was 2 in the morning. I tried ny quil..no help. My mom says "no" to sleeping pills.

This is seriously driving me insane!

Please, submit your ideas on how to make me fall asleep!

taped nascar races. Works for me; and fun while you're still awake.

hmm, personally, I think that the nascar races would PUT me too sleep. No fun factor in those races at all!

You could have an underlying medical problem.

I was recently diagnosed with Graves' disease and I think I've gotten only two full-night's of sleep in the last month.

I can only usually get a full nights sleep when I pop a few Nytol. Even then it's hit and miss.

I'll say go to the doctor. If you have a serious problem or not, it's better that you find out sooner than later. In the meantime, you could try some teas and herbal remedies. They have the same chemicals as pills, but pehaps your mom won't object to them because they are "natural". If that doesn't work, try some Nytol or Sominex. They are not addictive, for that I am sure, since I used them for almost seven years and stopped using them before getting married. But, really, go to the doctor.

Assuming it isn't anything medically serious, try TryptoZen or Melatonin.

While you're at it, ditch the Kava Kava and St. John's Wort if you're taking them. Both have potentially serious side effects and provide limited benefits.

Oh boy I had some insane insomnia/sleep problems the past week... went to sleep at 3, woke up at 1 or 2... very messed up sleeping patterns. One day I ended up sleeping at 6AM! (I went to bed at 2AM!) and woke up at 1PM... That really blew the final straw, the next day I gave myself ~5 hours of sleep (4 - 9) and then forced myself to fix my sleeping pattern. Now I'm fine at 2AM - 11AM and hope to keep it this way.

I'm a rabid NASCAR fan (and other motorsports too).

One of my close relatives suffered from insomnia. There was a situation of underlying stress, but then she paid a visit to a sleep disorders specialist who prescribed some behavioral modifications, and, voila, a few weeks later her insomnia was essentially gone.

Hey, Jude (sorry you must get that all the time);

Your pic is a little small--is that Matt Kenseth and you? Cool!

Yeah, that's Kenseth -- that photo was taken in victory lane right after he won the Sirius Satellite Radio 400 at Michigan International Speedway last month.

By the way, daycart1, I saw your interview in that Orange County Register article about headphone hi-fi! That was you, wasn't it?

Funny that you say this -- I know several people who've had the same thing happen to them (the weird dreams). Sometimes the dreams get really weird. It's enough to keep me from trying it -- and, besides that, I rarely have trouble sleeping.

Talking to your doctor is the first step. If he finds nothing wrong with you, I suggest you play hard, and work hard during the day, and sleep like a baby at night. Try to get on a daily pattern of eating, and sleeping at the same time. A little exercise wouldn't hurt either. Drink lots of water, and mabye even try an herb called Valerian. I wish you the best of luck!
