Saw those picture at erji.net before. In fact, I think the original poster posted the link here as well.

I think the story went as he has already recabled his SE530 (a few times) by professional after the warranty expired (you can see the cable in the pictures is different from stock) - Yes, there are pro in China for just about everything. However, the multiple recabling process end up weaken the wire linking the transducer and eventually he lost the sound to one of the transducer. He got fed up and decide to open it up by himself just to find out what went wrong.

That^, I believe was what happened. (I am too lazy to dig up the old thread at erji.net to confirm).

Does he have marks on his wrist?

And... do people really re-cable the SE530's? Does it make that much of a difference?

looks like they made a dogs breakfast of the recable attempts too man; and did clieos say correctly in that they had been recabled more than once?? wow, dodgy, shurely you would do it once and fill strain relief with solid epoxy, so nothing would move. ever.

nice pics though; makes me think I might do mine, the solder terminals are larger than I though they would be and provided I can get them open cleanly should be easy peazy. looks like its silver recable time.

also^^ you really arent a very patient person are you

Going back to the original erji.net thread: the store that did the recabling open up the earpieces by cutting it with a hot knife, than seal it back with heat. The SE530 in question has been recabled twice and opened up three times before XXXSB opened it up himself.
