Roasty, your valuable feedback is much appreciated! Could you please grade the impact of Phoenix on how Holo May sounds, from "day and night difference" (10) to "immediate noticable difference" (5) or "the difference might be just the ownership bias though" (1)

I'd give it a 5 to 6.
it seems like one of those things u could not try and be perfectly happy with your system as it is, but once it is in the chain, you notice what has been "missing" without it.

oh, could u share what you didn't like about it?

Oh sorry, I don’t need to find out, I just can’t see how it could help my delivery system. antipodes audio is just that good. I’m not looking for more transparency or smoothing or noise reduction. If I’m wrong about this I’ll never know.

I've been eyeing the Phoenix for a while and had a credit with my dealer given a refund on something from a while back. So I have a black unit on order and I'm really looking forward to it. I'm personally a firm believer in addressing components in ROI priority fashion. Now that I have my endgame headphones, amp, mDave.. I feel comfortable exploring improvements further up the chain. I prefer a macbook/PC as a transport at this time for a few personal reasons, so streamers are off the table for right now. But I'm sure I'll explore that further in the future as well.

A lot of good info in this thread and the impressions here and elsewhere have been pretty strong. Expecting more of an Mscaler level, subtle improvement (although different obviously), but we shall see.

Here is what I can say about Phoenix USB. If yo have money and you are not trying this, you are committing a mistake, yes, it is that good. Logically thinking, it is about providing cleaner fuel to the system.

What I can assure all is that no matter what your DAC is, this will change your perception. I did a very simple experiment of connecting my Bluetooth headset directly to computer vs via Phoenix and the difference was day and night. So, what I am trying to say is that no matter what your DAC is, if you use USB, you need this.

Note the system I am using Phoenix in is consisting of dCS Debussy DAC and dCS Rossini clock.

My Phoenix USB arrived today. Starting burn in. Will report my findings after one - two weeks. Also will do the comparison with another reclockers (Ideon 3R Master time and Denafrips Gaia). Stay tuned.
