What does the Bank Holiday have to do with it? The number I posted is manned 24/7 which includes Bank Holidays. You could have got advice within a few minutes and you chose not to. That's pretty much all there is to it.

EDIT: Unable to get where? How would you know where you had to go unless you called first?

I'm sure that bird enjoyed the flash off of your camera as well.

Checked online, it's quite a distance. The bird would during the journey.

If you think giving a place for the bird to sleep, food and water is cruel, what would you think if I gave it to the cat? prat.

That's right, resort to name calling. And for the record - I'd rather be a prat that tried to save a bird, than a prat who created a thread about it with no other intention than to use it for my own amusement. If you expect anyone to believe that this injured and terrified bird conveniently hobbled onto your foot just as you had your camera to hand, then you're the prat.

Theres actually lots of places that will come out to you if you have reported or indeed taken in an injured wild bird.

I live near the same city of north west england as you do so I know for a fact this was a possible outcome.

I just completely fail to understand why you would not even attempt to contact a specialised wildlife bird rescue centre for either expert knowledge and expertise or for them to take care of the bird themselves.

and p.s. the species of bird is irrelevant, it is a sentient life that was in need of help and assistance.

You're right. I shot it point blank with a 12 gauge first.

Yep. Make jokes about it because you think it's so funny.

That was going to be my point too about his reply to my post that he's the 'swallow killer'. Squashing it would have been a better option for the bird than the course he set out for it as well.

Are you a vegan? Go around letting loose all chickens, turkeys, ducks, sheep, cows, rabbits on farms designated for the slaughter? You don't drive a car because you may hit a animal on the road?

No so don't give me holier than thou attitude.

There is a world of difference between intentionally harming an animal and unintentionally hitting one with your car in an "accident". Similarly, that's why the farming industry has certain rules and guidelines to ensure animal welfare. Again, a completely different point to either intentionally harming an animal or refusing it treatment so it suffers needlessly.

It's a basic premise which centres on respect.

What a truly pathetic response that is. Don't twist this away from yourself just because you have no defence for what you did. And in case you forgot what you did, here's a reminder: you took an active and voluntary part in watching an injured bird suffer for 24 hours until it dropped dead. During the time of its suffering, you propped it up on your foot, blinded it with a flash, posted the photos here in the thread, made sick little jokes about it, and then tried to kid us you took care of it. Your casual indifference to a bird's suffering is the really disturbing thing here.
