Found an informative article and thought it might help people here. I have heard a few people ask "if X $100 amp gets the volume up high enough, why would I ever consider Y $500 amp?" A few people even said that all headphone amps should sound similar or the same. So maybe this will clear things up:

I know I learned somethings from it. By the way, it is my opinion that EVERY headphone amp should come with specs that actually help us. Most amp manufacturers just quote something like "1 watt max power" and nothing more. In my opinion they should quote max power at 32, 120, 300, and 600 ohms with THD + N figures.
