Am in the market for a modestly priced DVD player (< $200) that has good CD playback as well. DVD playback quality is not all that important... CD playback quality is the highest priority, but I understand the budget limitations.

Something in the Sony NS 500V mode would be great, but I've been unable to find them in local stores.

This will be my bedroom rig only... no speakers or HT receiver involved. Needs to play DVDs (and be inexpensive) to keep peace in the house.

Anyone know of any other budget DVD players that have good CD playback as well?

Thanks!

Bruce

Bump because I found this thread 5 seconds before I was going to post an identical one. My pricerange is <150. I keep reading "I bet any modern dvd player could best that CDP" and "just replace the computer in above system with a cheap dvd player". Could anyone recommend a cheap, good-for-CDP-purposes DVD player?

Why not search for the Sony model online?

Would you consider the Sony from an online source?
