I am looking for a 100k volume pot, and I can't seem to find any other than the blue velvet.

Can anyone link me to a lower model Alps or Panasonic dual 100k pot?
Also some suggestions for some decent priced knobs would be great. Thanks!

rat-shack sells a 100k ohm dual audio pot

pretty much identical to the one used by Grado but variable in the tracking department so i am thinking Grado "cherry picks' theirs.that is testing for the best ones and tossing the rest.
For the price you could buy a few, test for the best and still save money over an "audio quality" pot from one of the audio parts dealers selling "designer" partsa.

you can also "ballance the pot" at the lowe end by adding a small value resistor to the offset input.

it may not help if the pot varys inconsistently (ex left is louder at very low positions, right is louder at mid position, and both are qual at uberhigh volumes) but if they are offset by say 200 ohms from eachother across the range of travel....

The RS pots also are silent and the action as smooth as you could want and for $3 a fair bargain in a field (audio parts) lacking severly in that department.
Not "ultra audio" but nothing is until you spend large sums of loot for a small return in upgrade quality.it is the last 5% improvement that costs 200% or more of cost increase.Something is really wrong with that and I refuse to play.

the only downside to those pots is theyre not sealed, but no big deal. makes it easier to pull apart and match. i just like sealed pots based on old opinions from pro audio gear

i really should get over those opinions hehehe

Mouser Part #: 313-2420-100K

(Taiwan Alpha 24mm Carbon Potentiometers DUAL Audio D-Shaft 100K Solder Lugs)
They track very well for a carbon pot that costs less then $3

VERY helpful! thanks!

Any suggestions for a knob for these that I could get from mouser? preferable something with a silver finish, as I am using a Hammond silver/black case. Thanks!

I'm not sure what leads you to think so highly of quality control at Grado, but my old RA-1 tracked horribly.

Probably the same exact pot then and needs to be cherry picked.
