Hi,

Today, i just sold my triple.fi 10's as i felt that it was very uncomfortable (even with the olives) and that it didn't sound as good as i thought it would to the songs i listened to.

I'm in need of earphones suited for mainly pop music.

The problem with the triple.fi were the recessed mids (i really like my vocals to stand out). The highs(i think, is highs things like cymbals etc?) were killing my ears as well too. I also want a bit more punch and quantity in terms of bass.

After reading the forums, it seems the SE530 would suit my needs. I just want to confirm this and see the opinions of others.

Sorry if i sound like a noob lol, i'm very new to this world.

Thanks!

The Sennhesier IE8s have very strong bass, strong warm mids and weaker highs than most other High End IEMs.

If your willing to sacrifice a bit in the bass department, the Shure SE530s may give you even better mids than the IE8s. The Shures have stronger highs than the IE8s though.

They also cost a lot more in the region I live in but that might not be the case for you.

Sounds to me like the IE8s are exactly what your looking for.

Interesting.....by sacrificing bass, would you say i lose a bit of quantity, quality or punchiness? (or in whatever combination). I've also read about the IE8 being airy.. what does this mean?

Right now, i can get the IE8 for $379AUD ($270US) Sennheiser IE-8 In-Ear Earphones and the Shure SE530 for $570AUD ($400 US)

Quite a big difference but im willing to pay $$ for the best sound.

By the way, is there a picture of what the IE8 look like when worn? Looks a bit ugly imo compared to the shures.

IE8 has far better Mids than TF10 and its very spatial too. I mean the mids are placed beautifully in 3d space. The trebles are not bright as in TF10. I thought it gained sparkle and energy with some burn in. But you will be feeling a dark performance out of box. The highs are way natural than TF10's.
There is mid bass hump that worries me. But it has some quality sub-bass performance like having a sub woofer in your head. It is not all boom. Quality bass! Like bass coming from a very high quality sub-woofer.
I have not heard SE530. But I think IE8 is a very good IEM for POP music. It may be not ideal for classical and jazz like genres.

the se530's sound unquestionably like the way to go regarding the mids and highs relative to the tf10's. The mids of the 530's are well known to be their strongest aspect, while the highs will definitely be smoother, while still possessing a nice sparkle. The bass is a somewhat more complex question. It depends upon how much you want. The 530's are mostly agreed upon to have a tighter bottom end than the tf10's (although there are apparently two versions of the tf10's as UE modified them after release). Depending upon how much bass matters, you might also want to check out the westone 3's.
