Do yourself a favor and pick up a pair of Atrio M5s (black) or M8s (blue) from FutureSonics. You won't regret it. You can get them on Ebay for $130, but not sure about French buyers. They are $199 at the FutureSonics site, which is a lot higher than the ebay price.

X3's are one of the best budget canalphones I have ever heard. don't hesitate to try them!

you can call road dog online to see how much shipping is international but i got mine for 130 plus 9.95 for shipping. the price says 159 on the site but if u call they'll give u a different price. maybe it'll be 150 or so if u order it from them

M5's are the more refined earphone.

The Mylar X3 is a very good value and is more efficient for use with a low powered portable.

what's wrong with being refined? i would rather get the more expensive one out of that budget since it might be a while before upgrading. if i got the X3's i'd be wondering what i could've gotten with the money that i had set aside already.

Why not save money and buy an IM716 from newegg.com??

IM716 is rebranded ER4P... and ER4P becomes ER4S with P->S adapter!!

ER4S actually needs an amp to really shine... so why not get a Supermini which has a built-in 75ohm impedance adapter? Supermini is $200, tho.. but the advantage of having IM716 is that it will sound great without an amp, but I hear that the bass increases a great deal with amplification.

I'd say get the IM716 today and look into other amps and/or impedance adapter (not all amps have this built-in like Xin's).

now i have a Gmini 402 (archos) and im going to by a cowon d2 is it enough for the IM716 (and are IM716 realy better then X3's)
edit: UE 5pro and M5 are realy too expensive

I think it'll be quite a challenge to find a better bargain for IEMs than the IM716....

Anyway, yes they should sound good with just about any player, but know that an impedance adapter & amp (or just the Supermini alone) could make these IEMs sound REEALLLY good in the future.

It's definitely nice to enjoy the sound out of one can for awhile and then alter it later on.

the problem with the IM716 is that the agreement between altec lensing and etymotic reseach is over, so finding new filters or if they need work under warrenty might pose a problem, Altec lensing now sells rebadged UE Super.fi 3 and metro.fi 2,
