IN car karaoke? Mp3 player and Mic through Aux

well I had this idea. Alot of my friends like to sing in the car. I thought why not attach a mic also.
so heres my setup:

OBVIOUSLY im not techy when it comes to sound. The mic works separately and so does the mp3 player. But combined the mp3 totally cuts out the mic. Ive tried turning the volume down on the player but the mic just cant be brought up enough.

Is this even possible to do? My setup is flawed, how do I fix it.

Is the mic totally inaudible, or just quiet?

If quiet, I'd say you may need a preamp...

well it only pics up a deep voice. I mean really deep. and when both devices are connected the music only plays on the right side.
My thoughts are auxilary inputs cant crossfade the music from two devices. Is there something to fix that?
