Just read about these 2 weeks ago in my Popular Science magazine (which also happens to advertise BOSE

).....

They work by passing the audio through your cartilage from behind your ear. The company claims you hear crystal clear audio without having to isolate your ears from your surroundings which can be dangerous.

They are taking Preorders now. Two models: one for kids and one for adults.

I must say, I'm reading the link above and it sounds very promising. The device comes into contact with your Tragus, then the sound waves get directed to your pinnea, and then into your ear canal.

QUOTE from InAirTechnology.com: "Ken worked for many years to perfect the InAir Technology and develop the first product concepts to utilize its fundamental, “wide-open” sound design. He was inspired to invent a portable product that would provide users an entirely unique sound experience that mimics the effect of listening to a home or car stereo in surround sound while also allowing users to remain fully aware of their surroundings."

it would be interesting to hear outside as well as music... like the town was on parade or something but then that would pretty much eliminate the reason for wanting to shut oneself in.

as a new concept it will be interesting just to hear feedback about these.

I am affraid it won't fit everyones ear. I can imagine little changes in position resulting in huge differences in sound...
I mean just try it. The perfect sound conduction is on one very small spot only - if these support wings don't fit your ear these will probably sound like crap. Maybe even if positioned well. (:P)
