photos of the prototype posted on Facebook
… and on Instagram along with a sale announcement for B-stock and pre-owned units.
I see the dreaded side vent from the Rah is back… doesn’t bode well for me, it’s what made me send back arguably my favourite IMR iems ever. Leakage was almost full-size open-back level. I hope there’s a system to close them this time around but it doesn’t seem so from that pic.

Maybe I’ll wait a while before putting my Semper up for sale.

I went with dark matter though after testing the Ellan, I will purchase Avalon without hesitation, double bc makes sense for the mids, in a way that they sound even better… wait for it … waaaaaaaiiiiiiiiit fooooooor iiiiiit… they sound way better than my… oh man (gulp…) (sweat in my forehead) this statement is quite hard to say…

Ellan mids sound way better than my pb1 and edp… and believe me, edp it’s my mids porn headphone, it goes a long way, imo not even edp+ could reach it, heck, using ellan I’m still catching details in albums I’ve been hearing for over 20 years, yesterday I listened Metallica’s black album and I was like “ehm… that’s new…” it’s just the way it translates into your head and the bass and some parts of the treble in the back, its like a surround system though bass its in the sideways instead of the middle of the scene, so I was like “I don’t want a V shaped sound” but now it makes total sense, the mids in the center, galloping bass in the sides and the electros just placing the details with outstanding precision
OG EDP has excellent synergy with the new DTR1+. On my 2MAX, it’s midrange is very lively and slightly forward when I listening to heavy tracks, which at times shortening my listening session. The DTR1+ pushes it back a step giving an overall velvety sound without loosing its sonic flow and yet maintaining its original tonality. Those drumming is way better and strangely treble has better energy even though this DAP has a warmer signature. This little bee is XXX porn to me now for the price we paid, and the pairing is now my bedside and late night buddy coz of its portability.

Hi, loving the Red 2 but considering getting the Ozar (stock B). Would that be an upgrade or sidegrade?
Appreciate comments from those who have heard both.
cheers, Jose
Yes, its quite an upgrade. I would keep both though, r2 red its quite a jewel

Okay, I asked Bob about those ports because they’re potentially deal-breaking for me and he answered this, might interest you guys:
“The port is quite different. In the rah it had two (front and back) these only have the rear and they have damping material behind them to stop any unwanted wind noise etc.”

Ahh good topic. And thanks for clarifying. Rah was really not a star at isolating. I would not count on Avalon being a star at it either but non of DD iems are.

I use my etymotic er2xr as earplugs. Blocks out more noise than those foam earplugs one finds at Walgreens or Walmart.

In terms of IMR iems, I only have the EDP, BC and Semper. Putting on the closed back plate on the BC and paired with Sony hybrid tips (foam underneath the silicone) or the orange Symbio tips provides isolation almost as good as the etymotic. I can't wait to see what Bob's plan is for custom iem which should provide the best isolation. Hoping for a ciem Semper that still has the capability to be open or closed back.

Can anyone work out how much I would be paying for the Elan in the sale?(as an existing IMR, UK customer).

Depending on whether my IMR loyalty code is applicable to sale prices and where in the sales process the tax is added, I can come up with over four different prices that IMR might be asking for them 🤔.
i would email Bob to ask, but don't want to bother him with a query that might not result in a sale, as even my most optimistic reading of the price tarot might well still be just beyond the reach of my wallet ATM.
And I'm certain he'll be busy.

I'm also just embarrased to admit to him that I'm too dumb to work it out without assistance.
Can someone with more IMR nous please fill me in on how much the Elan would cost me?
Thanks!

Add whatever you want into your cart and then add the discount code you received in your email today. The price will magically appear to you on screen with no calculator or abacus required.

Dont you dare delaying my Avalon delivery with your insignificant questions.
Just use wife's credit card.😆

Honestly ask Bob if you have question like this he has those prices worked out in his head.

But yeah. If you go all the way to the last point of checkout you will see the price before purchasing. Its not like you will be ask to pay and the get told how much.😉👍

OK, thanks for the pointers, but wow, the initially interesting price of £337.50 went up with each step of the checkout process to eventually reach £523.50 before I could eventually put in my loyalty code which reduced the price by £112, resulting in a final price to me (with added shipping and tax totalling £73) of £411.
Roughly the same price I would be paying (as a previous customer) before the sale discount.
I had hoped that the initial price that I saw (£337) would be what the Elan would cost me, perhaps even less if sale price could be combined with the loyalty code. I see now that was unrealistic, but it's disappointing to be pulled in by an apparently low price only to eventually find out (at the very last step of the order process!) that the price I'd actually be paying is considerably higher.
Also I added a new "sale price" Elan to my cart, but it showed up at the end as "pre-owned". Feels kinda 'bait and switchy', disappointing and off-putting to me.

Maybe I'm just sore that I can't afford these, but the process of finding out the final ticket price could be a bit more intuative, and less disappointing IMO.
I just don't like shell games, and this felt a little like a shell game, that I lost 😞.
There's just one discount code since Bob had to re-jig his loyalty system due to abuses right? There's not a second code I should be stacking?

thats the price for 'as new' - you need to select B stock under 'condition'

I did the exercise for the Pre-owned Elan with "minor blemishes" and came up with a price of 281,25 pounds or about US$385
cheers, Jose
